Description
Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse
Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- All ICU/IMCU units
- Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to: Pneumonia, Sepsis, Renal issues, Pancreatitis, General surgeries pre/post, Orthopedics, COPD, COVID-19, GI issues, and Sickle Cell Crisis
- Floating within facility and scope of practice
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- No on-call required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in critical care
- Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
Clinical Screening
- Candidates will undergo a clinical screen to determine fit and compliance with guidelines before final approval
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment)
Holiday Work Expectations
- If 1 major holiday falls during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two of them
Major Holidays Include:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for critical care specialties
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
- Other certifications (if applicable): PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (refer to clinical track documents for specialty-specific requirements)
Required Licenses & Verifications
- State License verification within 30 days prior to start (must be licensed in Georgia)
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Allied Annual License Verification (if applicable) within 30 days prior to start
Health & Compliance Documents
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by client but required by agency)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required for flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, IMCU, Telemetry, ER, and related units)
- General Competency Exam for Nursing and Allied Health
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist within the last 12 months, updated annually
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required
Notes
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Floating is within the facility and scope of practice
- No call required
- Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of critical care experience looking for a travel contract in Georgia with a 12-week commitment. Prior travel experience is not required.
