Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:45 AM - 5:15 PM)
Weekend/On-call: Weekends and on-call required (10-15 on-call shifts per contract)
Start Date: 02/23/2026

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Required Experience: 3 to 5 years of recent circulating and scrub experience in the OR
• Must have general OR experience across most service lines including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and General Surgery
• Note: First-time travelers with strong recent circulating and scrub experience may be considered, but candidates with less than 3 years of experience will be screened out
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted if experience criteria met

Licenses & Certifications

• Maryland RN state license required
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

• Circulating and scrub experience is a hard requirement
• Floating within the specialty and general OR as needed based on case volume
• Weekend shifts and on-call coverage required, including weekday/weeknight on-call from end of shift to 6:30 AM next day, and 24-hour weekend on-call shifts
• Surgical/sterile scrubs provided

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required
• Physical exam, drug testing, immunizations, and fit testing must be current and completed within specified timeframes
• Various competency exams and certifications may be required depending on specialty and unit
• Documentation such as photo for badge, confidentiality agreement, dress code review, and job description acknowledgment required prior to start
• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
• Employment history verification for previous 5 years required

Work Environment

• Fast-paced CVOR setting with potential for multiple heart cases requiring early start times
• On-call shifts shared equally among CVOR staff
• Floating to other OR areas as needed

Summary

This is a travel contract RN position in the Cardiovascular Operating Room requiring 3-5 years of OR circulating and scrub experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked across multiple surgical specialties. The role demands flexibility for weekend and on-call shifts, floating within the specialty, and adherence to strict licensing, certification, and compliance requirements.
