Description
Job Opportunity: RN - 3 South - PCU/Stepdown
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Description
- 3 South Stepdown unit
- Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
- Previous PCU/Stepdown experience required
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Schedule: 36/48 hours per two-week pay period (subject to change based on census and call-ins)
- Resource must reside within 100 miles of the facility
Required Qualifications
- License: Kentucky RN license or compact RN license valid for Kentucky
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience in specialty (PCU/Stepdown)
- Additional Requirements:
- Previous PCU/Stepdown experience mandatory
- Must provide proof of required immunizations and health screenings (see below)
Immunizations & Health Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
- Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved exemption
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years) or declination
- TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days prior to start (7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG)
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (excluding marijuana/THC)
- Verification of education and employment (7 years of relevant experience required to verify)
- Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification (Kentucky) within 30 days prior to start
- Submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
- Two professional references required (one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor, both within last year)
- Annual updates required for most credentials and background checks
Skills & Competency Testing
- Unit-specific exams (EKG, Telemetry) within one year prior to start
- Skills checklist and competency exams specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives (annual update required)
Additional Notes
- Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
- Candidates should not be submitted to more than one job at a time
- Start date on job posting is the required start date
