Travel ICU RN Job Opportunity
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ICU/CCU Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Kentucky. The role involves working in a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in an ICU/MICU setting with a 36/48 hour schedule.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years ICU/MICU nursing experience
- Must have experience with Meditech EMR system
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Kentucky RN license or compact RN license valid in Kentucky
- BLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate required if not electronic
- ACLS (American Heart Association) – required for ICU RN specialties
- NIH Certification – required for ICU RN specialties
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
Required Health & Immunizations
- COVID-19 Vaccine (religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Tdap vaccination (valid 10 years from administration date; Td not accepted)
- Influenza vaccine (required October-March; exemptions require approval)
- TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days prior to start (7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender, SAM, OIG)
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (excluding marijuana/THC)
- Verification of education and employment (7 years relevant experience required to verify employment)
- Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification (Kentucky) within 30 days prior to start
- Submission packet including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
Skills & Competency Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam within one year prior to start (actual documents required; certificates not accepted)
- EKG and Telemetry exam within one year prior to start
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety orientation, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety, infection control, elder abuse, age-specific care, cultural diversity, advance directives (annual update required)
Additional Notes
- RN must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
- Driver’s license required for submission
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Start date on job is the start date needed
