Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Medical Specialty
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Unit: 7CD - 32-bed inpatient Medical-Specialty Unit
Job Description
- Care for adult medical/surgical patients, including those with behavioral disturbances
- Wide variety of med/surg patients in private rooms with bathrooms and mobility aids
- Collaborate with physicians and inter-professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care
- Practice within full scope of nursing expertise using age and population-specific standards
- Equipment used: EMR-Epic, Telemetry, Philips monitors, Bladder scanner, Acuivein, Omnicell
- Float to all med/surg units on all 3 campuses in Fargo as needed
Schedule
- 12-hour day/night rotation
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Rotation schedules vary (e.g., 3 weeks days then 3 weeks nights or all days/nights depending on unit needs)
- Self-scheduling allowed but days off guaranteed only as per contract; shift trades encouraged to maintain unit balance
- Efforts made to minimize frequent day/night shift flipping
Nurse to Patient Ratio
- 5:1 on day shifts
- 6:1 on night shifts
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
- Minimum 1 year med/surg experience in a busy environment
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- ND or compact state RN license
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- EPIC experience required
- Willingness to float to all med/surg units within Fargo
Additional Information
- Must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required
- Cannot accept travelers living within 60 miles of the facility
