Description
Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist - General / OB GYN
Location: Lawton, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under supervision, assists radiologists and physicians by performing ultrasound exams on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients to aid in diagnosis. Provides patient care, operates ultrasound equipment, and maintains accurate records and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- Registry eligible or registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Minimum 6 months experience performing ultrasound exams preferred
- Must have no prior disciplinary actions on record
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams using established procedures
- Provide patient care including explaining procedures, positioning, and comfort
- Obtain and review patient history and clinical data relevant to ultrasound exams
- Interpret ultrasound images and provide technical summaries to physicians
- Maintain accurate documentation and logs in Radiology Information Systems and PACS
- Perform quality assurance and infection control, including equipment inspection and disinfection
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly when needed
- Maintain ultrasound labs stocked and clean
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and professional code of conduct
- Attend continuing education to maintain competency
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods and stand/walk for up to 2 hours during procedures
- Ability to lift/move supplies (10-25 lbs) and assist patient transfers
- Ability to push/pull equipment up to 600 lbs on casters
- Manual dexterity to manipulate transducers and use computer/keyboards
- Ability to climb stairs and use step stools
- Good hearing and vision to monitor equipment and interpret exam results
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team
- Strong reasoning and decision-making skills related to patient care and exam protocols
