Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Hood River, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LDRP RN) for a travel contract position. The role involves floating between units as needed and requires working every other weekend. The position follows AWHONN staffing standards with expected nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 for active labor and 1:3 for postpartum.
Work Schedule & Floating
- Floating between units is required based on unit needs.
- No on-call required.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- No block schedules required.
- Floating to other facilities within the hospital system may be necessary.
Facility Highlights
- Critical Access / Level III Trauma Center
- 25 staffed beds
- Teaching hospital

- Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR, Critical Care, ED, and Maternal Child units)
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oregon.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) recommended
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification or equivalent (AWHONN or NCC-EFM)
- Must have a vehicle for assignment travel.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience preferred.
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024.
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Providence Health and Services required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery RNs
- Facility-specific modules as applicable
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication and pharmacology competency.
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.
Additional Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required.
- Travelers may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
- Epic charting training modules required for Oregon placements.
- Must comply with all state-specific background and license verification requirements.
This position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to work across multiple units and facilities within the Providence Health and Services system in Oregon.
