Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience for a travel contract position at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Children's Hospital. The position requires weekend work generally every other weekend and block scheduling. No floating between units or on-call required.
Required Experience
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year (PICU/NICU experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required (1st timers accepted)
Required Certifications
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
Required Licenses
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license valid in Texas
Special Requirements
- PICU and NICU experience mandatory
- Weekend availability (generally every other weekend)
- Block scheduling required
- No floating between units
- No on-call duties

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug Screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Skills Checklist updated annually (if applicable)
- Facility-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS, including:
- Core regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for PICU and Respiratory Therapy
- Annual regulatory modules for all caregivers
- Epic system training modules (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
- Float policy acknowledgement required (may be required to float to nearby Providence facilities)
- No 48-hour shifts approved
- Prior travel experience not required; 1 year experience in specialty is mandatory
