Job Opportunity: Surgical Technician

Location: Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Surgical Technician
  • Start Date: February 23, 2026
  • Shift: 5–8 hour day shifts including call, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Housing: Shared housing provided (no guests or pets allowed)
  • Transportation: Car required
  • Return to Office (RTO): Not applicable
  • Flu Vaccine: Required

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Certified Surgical Technician
  • Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - NBSTSA or NCCT only
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): Required (AHA preferred)
  • Professional License: Primary source verification of professional license/certification required; MA Conditional Licenses not accepted
  • Fit Test: N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no religious exemptions)
  • Immunizations and Health Requirements:
    • MMR: Documentation of vaccination or proof of immunity
    • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions
    • TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or negative blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
    • Health Statement: Physician statement within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
    • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
    • National Sex Offender Check within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
    • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
  • Additional Documentation Required for Submission:
    • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city & state
    • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above) in skillset
    • Skills checklist
    • Candidate submission coversheet

Additional Notes

  • Shared housing requires signing a housing agreement
  • No religious exemptions for fit testing or flu vaccine
  • Fit testing cannot be done onsite initially; updates possible if assignment is extended
  • Positive TB test requires negative chest x-ray documentation
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is required
