Job Opportunity: Licensed Respiratory Therapist
Location: Princeton, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Licensed Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 3 years of experience to work in a community hospital setting. The role involves working across a variety of inpatient units including adult, pediatric, and neonatal care areas.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience (ER, ICU, Inpatient Adult required; Pediatric experience preferred but willing to train)
- Experience with ventilators, ABG draws and analysis, BiPAP, infant vents/CPAP, resuscitation, and EKGs
- Ability to assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)
- Comfortable managing up to 8-9 ventilators simultaneously in ICU
- Able to perform breathing treatments, vent management, ABGs, and EKGs (both inpatient and outpatient)
- Experience with arterial line placement preferred
Certifications & Licenses
- Must hold a current Licensed Respiratory Therapist credential
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- ACLS, BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS, and STABLE certifications required
Work Environment & Schedule
- Work shifts: 06:45 - 19:15 and 18:45 - 07:15 (12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required; holiday work only if scheduled (Christmas and New Year’s)
- No call or standby call required
- Floating within the facility only
- Professional dress code: any color scrubs, clean-shaven for men, no long nails
Patient Population & Units Covered
- Primarily adult patients, with some pediatric and neonatal patients in family birthing unit (no C-sections)
- Coverage includes all inpatient areas, Emergency Department, inpatient and outpatient EKGs, and outpatient bronchoscopy procedural settings
- Sleep Lab, Pulmonary, and Cardiac Rehab areas are not covered by travelers
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Puritan Bennett 840, Hamilton C1 (invasive, non-invasive, high flow), Avea
- BiPAP v60, Vapotherm for high flow oxygen therapy
Orientation & Support
- Orientation includes general and classroom modules followed by approximately 3 days of shadowing with a preceptor
- Lead therapist or supervisor available for support and questions
- Skills assessment conducted onsite to ensure appropriate assignments
Additional Notes
- Facility requires submission of an unexpired driver’s license
- Licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission
- Department typically staffs 7 RTs during the day and 5 at night, with 40-70 treatments per therapist daily
