Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Traveler - Backfill)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Specialty: Respiratory Care Services
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy care across NICU, PICU, and Adult ICU settings.
- NICU level 4 with Labor & Delivery and PICU level 1 trauma and transplant experience preferred.
- NICU shifts are not guaranteed every time; may be assigned to adult floors or adult ICUs depending on staffing priorities.
- Perform basic floor care respiratory therapy including:
- Nebulizers and MDI’s
- Bronchial hygiene (CPT)
- Volume Expansion (PEP)
- CPAP & BiPAP for all ages (infant to geriatric)
- NICU/PICU experience requires familiarity with Servoi, SiPAP, Sensormedics 3100A (HFOV) ventilators, and blood gas analysis.
- Adult ICU experience requires familiarity with Servoi ventilators, extubation protocols, and arterial blood gases (ABGs).
- Use electronic charting systems (EPIC).
- Utilize supply and medication pyxis machines.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in floor care respiratory therapy.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in intensive care respiratory therapy.
- Active Nebraska Respiratory Therapist license.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – required if working in Adult ICU
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required if working in NICU
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required if working in PICU
- Experience with tracheostomy care.
- Ability and willingness to work across NICU, PICU, and Adult patient populations as needed.
- High school diploma required for credentialing.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time 12-hour shifts, options include:
- Days on floors/Adult ICU (3 days/week including weekends)
- Nights in NICU/PICU (3 days/week including weekends)
- Varied hours on floors (days, evenings, nights) full-time
- No required call, but may be placed on a call list for additional shifts.
- Support available from Lead Therapist 24/7 and additional staff during business hours.
- Dress code: Scrubs (any color) or business casual.
- Orientation: 5-6 shifts of 8-12 hours, with additional training as needed.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be willing to work NICU/PICU and Adult units as needed.
- Experience with neonatal and pediatric ventilators and blood gas analysis is important.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
