Job Opportunity: Radiology Tech (Nights)
Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging examinations
- Explain procedures and respond to patient questions
- Perform diagnostic radiological procedures as ordered by physicians
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers, with renewal every two years
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Familiarity with radiologic equipment, procedures, and radiation safety (ALARA standards)
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot and adjust radiologic equipment
- Ability to use CR, Fluoro, and DR imaging equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media and manage contrast reactions
- Competence in patient positioning, image transfer to PACS, and documentation
- Ability to maintain sterile technique during procedures in operating room and radiology department
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients and staff
Essential Job Functions
- Perform patient care and technical duties accurately and timely
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth)
- Assist Radiologists and Fluoro Techs during special procedures
- Operate portable radiographic equipment in various hospital departments
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Perform clerical duties related to workflow monitoring and quality assurance
- Explain policies and procedures to radiology students as needed
