Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (start time may vary)
- Start Dates: ASAP, 2/23, 3/9, 3/14, 3/23
- Call: None
- Weekends: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per contract, every third weekend required
- Floating: Not required
- Accepts 1st Time Travelers: Yes, based on experience
- Locals Accepted: Yes, at a lower rate
Job Responsibilities
- Provide daily respiratory treatments, ventilator management, BiPAP, Airvo checks, and PRN treatments
- Respond to codes, bedside procedures, and maintain patient charts with documentation of therapies
- Attend all emergency responses including Codes, RRTs, Fire alarms, STEMI, Stroke, Trauma, and Mass Transfusion alerts
- Assist with CPR, intubation, equipment setup, and patient lifting during emergencies
- Manage patients on BiPAP/CPAP, assist with removal/replacement for medications, eating, or comfort
- Transport patients on respiratory equipment or oxygen ≥6 Lpm for testing, transfers, and physical therapy
- Perform bedside pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and send results to Pulmonology
- Conduct overnight pulse oximetry testing and bedside bronchoscopies with disposable scopes
- Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) for ICU and critical patients
- Perform scheduled Cough Assist, IPV, and CPT therapies
- Support neonatal care including surfactant delivery and bagging medications in the nursery
- Manage respiratory equipment cleaning, supply maintenance, bronch carts, Glidescope machines, and perform EKGs during tech absences
- Conduct brain death testing, set up Nitric Oxide in OR/ICU, Heliox setup, and notify management of supply needs
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy (default to higher if conflicting info)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers based on experience)
Additional Requirements
- Must work 4+ weekend shifts per contract
- Must be able to attend all emergency codes and rapid responses
- Ability to manage 10-15+ patients across different floors
- Must be able to accompany patients on respiratory equipment during transport and procedures
Compliance & Health Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (no TSpot/PPD accepted)
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-Mar)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Additional certifications recommended but not required: ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification (depending on role)

- This position involves critical care and emergency response duties requiring strong clinical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced environment with a variety of respiratory therapy responsibilities including neonatal support and advanced procedures.
- First-time travelers are welcome if they meet experience requirements.
