Travel Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit) - Cleveland, Ohio
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit)
- Location: Cleveland, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may rotate as needed to meet hospital operational needs.
- Unit: HVTI-Stepdown unit
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
- Must have 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Permanent Ohio RN license or Compact State RN license in hand.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required.
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required beyond the 18 months recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
Work Requirements
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Pass required competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency exams.
- Pass onsite orientation testing (ECG & medication).
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required: Tdap (every 10 years), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09.
- Fingerprinting results required prior to contract extension.
- Education verification required.
- References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from manager/supervisor level.
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training.
- Pass/fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation.
- Annual competency exams and skills checklists required.
This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs with strong clinical skills, current Ohio or compact RN licensure, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
