Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Columbus, Ohio

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 16 weeks (interpreted from 16)
  • Shift: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts; schedule may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs. Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks but not guaranteed.
  • Unit: Mixed Acuity - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical (MS) patients
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years RN experience required.
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required.
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required.
  • Skills required: IV starts, telemetry, tracheostomy management.
  • Prior travel experience preferred (not required).

Orientation

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, day shift orientation.
  • Week 2: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio.
  • Certifications:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - Required.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - May be required depending on unit.
    • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required based on unit assignment.
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start.
    • Unit-specific competency exams.
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply).
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
    • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
    • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
    • Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
    • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start.
  • Other:
    • Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually.
    • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies.
    • References: 2 professional references required; at least one from a manager or formal leadership.

Additional Information

  • Self-scheduling requests are accepted before final schedule posting.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start.
  • Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending results require attestation.
  • Candidates must graduate from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

This position offers a dynamic work environment with mixed acuity patients and requires flexibility in shift assignments. It is ideal for RNs with solid clinical experience, EPIC proficiency, and a preference for travel nursing.
