Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years (Neuro experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
- Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Float Requirements: ICU, IMC, Tele as needed
- Unit Size: 14 rooms, 16 beds
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Identification: I9, Driver’s License/State ID
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Fingerprinting (time sensitive for certain locations)
- Education Verification: Must verify highest level of education
- Licensure:
- Primary source online verification required
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Skills & Competencies:
- Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Color blind testing (online)
- Competency exams as applicable (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this travel contract.
- Must complete a full employment application and provide work history verification for the past 7 years.
- References are not required for clearance but may be requested internally.
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required.
This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU nurses with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced ICU environment with Epic charting and a 1:2 patient ratio.
