Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts.
• Utilize nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver patient care.
• Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Monitor IV sites every 4 hours and start new IVs according to policy.
• Identify changes in patient status and respond appropriately.
• Participate in staff meetings and uphold departmental competencies.
• Promote patient and employee safety by reporting and addressing hazards.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Demonstrate initiative in professional development and learning.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).

Skills

• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing).
• Multicultural sensitivity.
• Critical thinking and independent judgment.

Additional Information

• Must maintain documentation standards as evidenced by quarterly chart audits.
• Attendance at 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year is required.
