Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist
Location: Little River, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (~13 weeks)
Job Description
- Administer therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation using advanced linear accelerators, Tomotherapy, or proton therapy units.
- Record and verify treatment software and simulate patients per radiation oncologists' prescriptions and instructions.
- Maintain professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Administer daily prescribed radiation therapy doses and adhere to standard work protocols.
- Follow radiation protection principles to ensure safety of patients, self, and others.
- Accurately position patients for treatment according to prescription.
- Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and families regarding treatment reactions and post-treatment care.
- Foster a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors.
- Contribute to training radiation therapy students.
- Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and educational participation.
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Radiation Therapist license for South Carolina.
- Certifications:
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- SCRQSA certification required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Radiation Therapy.
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccination (fully vaccinated preferred).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization or titer proof (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B immunization or titer proof (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella immunization or titer proof (no declinations accepted).
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing.
- Influenza vaccine recommended (Sept-April).
- Fit test for respiratory protection equipment (if applicable).
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Social Security card.
- Criminal background check including county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, and education verification within last 7 years.
- Employment verification for last 5 years.
- 10 panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no rapid screens).
- Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually.
- Resume or professional profile submission required.
