Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Dunedin, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide skilled home care nursing (Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial insurance patients)
- Perform 6-8 home skilled visits per day
- Care includes cardiopulmonary assessment, wound care (basic wound care, ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing), Pleurx/Aseptdrain care, foley catheter care, staple/suture removal, glucometer use, pro-time machine use, SQ/IM injections, lab draw venipuncture, IV skills, PICC line or Midline care and dressing changes, SQ port access/deaccess
- Manage general medical diagnoses and high-risk diagnoses such as heart failure (HF), COPD, myocardial infarction (MI), pneumonia, and stroke
- Post-operative care
- Work hours vary based on HomeCare office needs, including:
- Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM
- Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday shifts
- Alternating weekend shifts
- Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on office needs
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1 year of home health nursing experience (skilled home care experience required; private duty nursing experience only is NOT accepted)
- Experience with OASIS training and documentation
- IV skills and wound care expertise
- Ability to manage high-risk diagnoses and post-op care
- Valid driver’s license and reliable car for home visits
- Must be COVID vaccinated or have an approved exemption
- Must have flu shot or declination; mask wearing mandatory at all times while at work
Certifications Required
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - Required
- Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, etc.)—verify based on assignment specifics
Documentation and Compliance Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and state ID
- Background checks including nationwide and education verification
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education was completed outside the US or Puerto Rico
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if prior positive PPD)
- Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement
- COVID vaccination or approved exemption
- Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required
- Completion of BayCare Online Learning Center modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
- Professional photo for badge
- Personal or auto insurance valid during assignment
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required)
- Color blind testing (Relias Color Blind Exam)
- Other competency exams as applicable to profession
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references from within the past 2 years
- Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted and approved
Work Environment
- Scrubs: Any solid color scrub
- Laptop, MiFi for internet access, and portable printers provided
- Documentation via BayCare Forms, BayCare Scheduling, and Ace Timesheet system
Summary
This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position focused on skilled home health care in Florida. The role requires at least 1 year of home health nursing experience with OASIS training, strong IV and wound care skills, and the ability to manage complex medical and post-op patients. Candidates must be able to self-schedule visits and meet all compliance, certification, and documentation requirements prior to starting.
