Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Unit
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty. First-time travelers are accepted.
Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Unit: Telemetry
- Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Census: 16 rooms
Systems Used:
- Epic (required)
- Pyxis
- SBAR
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holidays: Required to work major holidays during assignment (expectations vary based on number of holidays during contract)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years specialty experience required (highest requirement)
- Prior travel experience: Not required
- Telemetry skills including dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Ability to work with telemetry patients and related diagnoses
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)
Required Documentation & Health Requirements
- Background check (within 30 days of start)
- Education verification (degree related to nursing)
- State nursing license verification (Georgia)
- Annual Nursys verification
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
- TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for telemetry)
- Color blind testing (required)
- General competency exam for nursing
Additional Notes
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
- Floating within facility as needed
- Locals accepted at same rate
