Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Telemetry (Travel)

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

• Level III Trauma Center with cases including Trauma Levels I, II, and III
• 24-bed Surgical Inpatient Unit (3rd floor)
• Patient population: Adults aged 18-100+
• Patient ratio: Maximum 1:6 with frequent admits and discharges
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
• Equipment: IV pumps, vital signs monitors
• Shift: Nights, 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Weekend hours: At least 3 shifts per 4-week schedule
• No call requirements
• Float opportunities to Medical, Nephrology, Inpatient Rehab, Cardiology (lower acuity), Med/Surg, and Pediatrics (adult patients only)

Specialty & Role

• Role: RN / Charge Nurse
• Specialty focus: Orthopedic and Neurosurgery, with additional coverage in Medical and Nephrology as needed
• Common patient diagnoses and treatments include:

  • Post-operative care for ortho, neuro, and abdominal surgeries
  • Management of NG tubes, chest tubes, Foley catheters, TURPs
  • Respiratory issues, diabetic care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, pain management
  • Mixture of medical and surgical patients

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Med Surg Telemetry / Ortho/Neuro Surgery)
• BLS certification
• Must have at least a 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist
• Experience with post-operative patient care as described above
• Ability to follow all facility policies and guidelines
