Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Telemetry
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level III Trauma Center with cases including Trauma Levels I, II, and III
- 198-bed hospital serving the Four Corners region (NM, AZ, CO, UT)
- Surgical Inpatient Unit (3rd floor) with 24 beds
- Patient population: Adults aged 18-100+
- Patient ratio: Maximum 1:6 with frequent admits and discharges
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Cerner
- Equipment includes IV pumps and vital signs monitors
Position Details
- Role: RN / Charge Nurse
- Specialty: Orthopedic / Neurosurgery, with additional coverage in Medical / Nephrology as needed
- Shift: Days
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: At least 3 shifts per 4-week schedule
- Call: None
- Float Requirements: May float to Medical, Nephrology, Inpatient Rehab, Cardiology (lower acuity), Med/Surg, and Pediatrics (adult patients only)
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Orthopedic/Neurosurgery and Med Surg)
- BLS certification required
- Experience with post-operative patient care including:
- Ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries
- Management of NG tubes, chest tubes, Foley catheters, TURPs
- Respiratory issues, diabetic patient care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal
- Rib fractures, altered mental status, pain management
- Must have at least a 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist
Additional Information
- No prior travel experience required
- Must adhere to all facility policies and guidelines as a team member
- Strong customer service and patient experience skills preferred
Summary
This travel RN position offers an opportunity to work in a busy surgical inpatient unit within a Level III trauma center. The role requires solid post-operative care skills in ortho/neuro surgery and medical/nephrology, with flexibility to float to related units. The contract is approximately 13 weeks with day shifts and no call responsibilities.
