Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
• NURSYS verification required

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Step Down or similar acute care setting

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society (if applicable)
• Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
• IV Certification (if applicable)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education Verification required for nursing degree
• State-specific searches as applicable

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required and updated annually
• Immunizations and screenings:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
  • COVID vaccine or signed declination
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start

References & Employment History

• Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Uniform & Appearance

• Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN) must wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (print tops not allowed except in specific units)
• Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete required WorkRamp modules annually, including system-level regulatory and specialty-specific training prior to start
• Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
• Float policy acknowledgement required; candidate may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
