Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Unit Details

  • Patient Population: Mixed Med/Surg and Intermediate Care patients
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 to 1:6 depending on shift assignment
  • Shift Options: 36 or 48 hour shifts, Days

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years preferred
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required
  • Epic Experience: Required

Travel Radius

  • No local candidates accepted
  • Must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius

Required Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors, annual completion required)

Licensure and Verification

  • State License Primary Source Online Verification required
  • NURSYS Verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
  • Education Verification (highest level of education)

Background and Health Requirements

  • 7-year Background Check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for certain states)
  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP Vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year of start
  • TB Questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, etc.)
  • Onsite additional drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
