Physical Therapist - Home Health

Location: South Portland, Maine
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Start Date: March 16

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy services primarily to adult patients, with occasional school-aged children.
• Common patient diagnoses include post-orthopedic surgeries, post-surgical recovery, fall risks, deconditioning, and mobility issues.
• Patient load is approximately 20-25 patients per therapist.
• Travel required within Aroostook County, with daily travel distances between 50-100 miles.
• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of 4 ten-hour shifts.
• Weekend rotation: 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks (Saturday and Sunday).
• No on-call duties.
• Holiday coverage required for about 50% of holidays, including 6 major and minor holidays.
• Orientation period of 1-2 weeks provided.
• Dress code: Business casual or solid-colored scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience; home health experience preferred but other PT experience considered.
• Accepting first-time travelers with the right experience.
• Valid Maine state physical therapy license.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable car, and auto insurance.

Skills & Support

• Experience working with the specified patient types and diagnoses.
• Support available from scheduler, phone-accessible leadership, and PT leads.
• Use of EMR system (Netsmart).

Additional Notes

• Approval for requested time off must go through the manager.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Travel within the county is required, with significant daily driving.
