Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in the Operating Room. The role requires proficiency in trauma and robotic surgery, with a preference for thoracic and vascular experience. Candidates must be able to function independently across multiple surgical specialties and have prior travel experience.
Work Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts or 3x12 hour shifts available
- Call requirements: 2-3 calls within a 6-week period with a 30-minute response time
- Weekend shifts: 3-4 weekends within a 6-week period (can be days, evenings, or nights)
- Holidays and floating as needed
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Level II trauma experience required (at least 1 year); Level I trauma experience preferred
- Prior travel experience required
- Proficient with Da Vinci Xi robotic system (function independently without refresher training)
- Bonus if familiar with Da Vinci DV5 robot
- Must be proficient in robotic surgeries in the following specialties:
- General
- Gynecology
- Thoracic (excluding cardiac and open heart)
- Urology
- Must be able to function independently in:
- Robotics
- Orthopedics
- General Surgery
- Gynecology
- Urology
- Bariatrics
- ENT
- Plastics
- Vascular
- Thoracic
- Trauma
Additional Information
- May care for COVID-19 patients
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
- Preference for RNs who can scrub and circulate
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Pennsylvania
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Other certifications as applicable (e.g., TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course may be required)
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (for agency use)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
- Immunizations and titers as required:
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
- TDAP within 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers)
- Varicella (vaccines or positive titer)
- Flu vaccine or valid exemption during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; chest x-ray if positive
- Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal background check
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search (within 1 year)
- Child Abuse History Clearance (within 5 years)
- FBI fingerprinting (within 5 years)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification (highest level)
- Two professional references within 3 years
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency)
- Photo for badge (passport-style, professional)
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, and health & wellness commitments
Compliance & Onboarding
- Must complete required online learning modules prior to start
- New hire orientation required by end of first day
- Must comply with facility policies including tobacco and fragrance-free environment
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong trauma and robotic surgery backgrounds who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working independently across multiple surgical specialties.
