Job Opportunity: RN - Behavioral Health
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 355-bed hospital with multiple specialized centers including Brain, Cancer, Heart, Lung, Orthopedics, Surgical Weight Loss, Women’s Center, and Level 3 NICU.
- Behavioral Health unit includes 5 units with bed counts of 23, 20, 15, 13, and 10.
- Patient ratios vary by unit, e.g., 23 patients with 2 RNs and 4 CNAs, down to 10 patients with 1 RN and 2 CNAs.
- Patient population: Adult behavioral health patients.
- Common diagnoses treated: Schizophrenia, Dementia, Manic Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, Dual Diagnosis, Medical Detox, Depression, and Anxiety Disorders.
- Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
- No call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (or willingness to be trained).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Behavioral Health nursing specialty.
- Preferred: Certification with Handle with Care (training available).

- No weekend or call requirements specified.
- Patient care involves managing complex behavioral health conditions in an adult population.
Summary
This is a travel RN position in Behavioral Health requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience, active RN licensure, and BLS and CPI certifications.
