Description
Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts)
Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
Daily Caseload: 30-40 patients
Job Description
- Administer radiation therapy treatments using Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator
- Utilize Varian True Beams and Aria Electronic Medical Record (EPIC preferred)
- Experience with CBCT/kV/mV imaging and dosimetry systems including IMRT and Electron Beam Therapy
- Specialty treatment experience required in:
- Electron Field
- Respiratory Gating/Breath Hold for Left Breast
- Heterotopic Bone
- Superior Vena Cava
- Gynecomastia
- Prophylactic Treatments
- Experience with specialty cancers/illnesses such as Keloids and Prostate Cancer with Seeds/Fiducials
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) expected
- Scrub color: Any color accepted
- First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist (specialty experience)
- Valid Virginia state license or license from another state with proof of VA license application (temporary VA license allowed)
- ARRT (T) certification required
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency with Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator and ARIA documentation system (Epic preferred)
Certifications & Compliance
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation and agency approval
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification required
- Pre-employment physical exam within one year of start date
- Fit mask test within last 12 months required
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire
- Radiation badge and attestation of prior radiation exposure required
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, infection control, and orientation attestations prior to start
- Candidate must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Candidate must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
Notes
- This position allows for temporary VA licensure processing if needed
- Minimal Return to Office (RTO) is expected
- Flu vaccine exemptions require agency approval and supporting documentation
- Candidates should be prepared to complete EPIC training modules as required by the facility
