Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Position does not float between units
- On-call required: Yes
- One weeknight per week (6 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Approximately every 5th weekend (Friday 6 PM to Monday 7:30 AM)
- Weekends not required
- Block schedules not required
- Expected patient ratio: 1:1
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care

Required Experience
- Must be an experienced traveler; no first-time travel assignments accepted
- Preferred experience in stroke/cerebral angiograms, cardiac, and interventional radiology (IR) procedures
- Specialty years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but higher experience implied due to preference for experienced travelers and specialty skills
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Current Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) license or certification relevant to Cath Lab Tech role
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify per clinical specialty
- Must have valid state license for Oregon as applicable to Cath Lab Tech role
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travel assignments accepted
Work Environment & Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work on-call shifts as specified
- May be required to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance (float policy acknowledgment required)
- Scrub color: Any color allowed
- Parking: No fee
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
Training & Competency
- Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Oregon and Providence system
- Epic training modules (for Epic charting system)
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
Scheduling & Shift Details
- One weeknight on-call per week (6 PM - 7:30 AM)
- On-call approximately every 5th weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning)
- No weekend shifts required outside of on-call rotation
- No block scheduling required
