Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clearwater, Florida
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, typically 07:00-17:30 or 19:00 (varies)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On-call Requirement: Yes, typically 1 weekend shift in a 4-week schedule plus 7-9 call shifts per month (includes weekend call)
  • Daily Caseload: Varies
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Locals Accepted: No
  • Pending State License Accepted: No
  • Guaranteed Hours: Apply after the first call off per pay period
  • Scrub Color: Red
  • Charting System: Cerner EMR (preferred)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Cath Lab Tech)
  • First-timers: Not accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
    • Florida State License for Cath Lab Tech
  • Special Skills Required:
    • Scrub and EKG skills
    • Experience with Balloon Angioplasty, PCI, Stents, Thrombectomy, Impella insertion
    • Left and Right heart catheterization
    • Rotablader Cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • Preferred: Experience with Cerner EMR

Procedures & Department Focus

  • Diagnosis: Chest pain, NSTEMI, STEMI, Valve disease, Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Procedures: Left/Right Heart Catheterization, CTO, Complex PCI, Peripheral & Complex Peripheral interventions, Carotid Stent

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Active Driver’s License (must remain current during assignment)
  • Background Checks (within 1 year): including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification
  • Foreign Equivalency Evaluation (if education outside USA or Puerto Rico)
  • Education Verification (highest level of education in professional field)
  • Florida AHCA Level II Fingerprint Results (must be cleared prior to start)
  • Physical Exam (within 6 months of start)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 10 weeks of start)
  • TB Questionnaire (annual requirement)
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles) - titer or 2 vaccines + booster if needed
    • Mumps - titer or 2 vaccines + booster if needed
    • Rubella - titer or 2 vaccines + booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B - titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella - titer or 2 vaccines + booster if needed
  • Drug Testing: Standard 9 Panel within 30 days (instant tests not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (with mask requirement if declined)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
  • Respirator Safety Clearance (if respirator use required)
  • Photo for Badge (professional, clear photo with solid background)
  • BayCare Dress Code & Tobacco Policy compliance
  • Completion of BayCare Online Learning Center modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)

Competency Exams & Additional Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Color Blind Testing (Relias Color Blind Exam prior to start)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required)
  • Skills Checklist (required)
  • References: 2 references from past 2 years (clinical candidates only)
  • Employment Application (must be uploaded and available)

  • No floating to other units or sister facilities
  • Block schedule accommodation to be discussed during interview if applicable
  • Candidates must be able to meet on-call and weekend shift requirements

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Techs with strong procedural skills in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology, who are ready for a travel contract in a busy acute care teaching hospital setting.
