Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a temporary assignment in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The role involves providing critical care to infants, children, and teens in a 12-bed, all-private-room PICU. The nurse must be willing to float to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Emergency Department (ED) patient holds as needed.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 36-40 hours per week, with overtime billable after 40 hours
• May include holiday and on-call shifts with additional compensation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in the PICU for critically ill or injured pediatric patients
• Float to NICU to care for “feeders and growers” (babies on oxygen or antibiotics, not the sickest infants)
• May float to ED patient holds as required
• Collaborate with pediatric critical care doctors and transport teams
• Utilize EPIC EMR system for documentation and patient care

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current PICU / Pediatric Intensive Care experience
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (AHA)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Must be willing to float to NICU and ED patient holds
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months
