Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Weekends required, no call
- Unit: 10-bed labor and delivery unit
- Patient Ratio: Varies from 1:1 to 1:4 depending on stage of labor
- Floating: Must be willing to float if needed
- Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to obstetrical patients
- Perform assessments, medication administration, and carry out provider orders
- Evaluate effects of treatments and document care
- Communicate effectively with the care team
- Adhere to hospital policies and accreditation standards
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state RN license
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (in specialty)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) — must be current within last 6 months
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) — must be obtained prior to start
- Meditech experience required
Additional Requirements
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius (no locals)
- Must complete required background checks and verifications including:
- 7-year criminal background check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification and diploma/transcript
- Required health documents and immunizations:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Flu vaccination or approved declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination proof if vaccinated; unvaccinated must complete declination form
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed and signed prior to start
- Must complete LMS modules during orientation
- Must complete facility-specific TB questionnaire and COVID-19 screening questionnaire
Certifications Notes
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, and CPI certifications must be valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- CPI certification for ICU, IMCU, MS/T, NICU, L&D; ER RNs require in-person CPI or NCI training
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) preferred but not required
- STABLE certification required for Maternal Child and Nursery units
