Travel RN ICU Job - Texas (Waco)

Job Details

  • Specialty: RN ICU

  • Unit: Conglomerate ICU unit including medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients
  • Floating: Must be able to float between ICU and step-down critical care service lines

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current RN license in Texas with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start

Required Competency Exams & Training

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (passing score minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; passing score minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical only, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out (required prior to start)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within 1 year showing no infection, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start

Background & Screening

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and 7-year employment and residence history (updated annually or if break in service > 90 days)
  • Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually or if break in service > 90 days)
  • Education verification within 90 days of start
  • Drug screen: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually or if break in service > 90 days

Additional Requirements

  • Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address requirements
  • Completion of onboarding requirements including various Ascension-specific checklists and attestations prior to or at start

Notes

  • Flu season mask requirement applies October 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025
  • Must be able to float between ICU and step-down units
  • No explicit mention of prior travel experience required
