Travel ICU/CCU RN Opportunity
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Provide ICU/MICU nursing care with 1:2 patient ratios
- Work schedule: 36/48 hours
- Use Meditech EMR system
- Orientation offered bi-weekly
- Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years ICU/MICU nursing experience
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Kentucky RN license or compact RN license valid in Kentucky
- BLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate required if not electronic
- ACLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate required if not electronic
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
Required Immunizations & Health Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine (proof of completed series) or approved religious/medical exemption
- 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or start of series with follow-up dose)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
- 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or start of series with follow-up dose)
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (declinations accepted)
- TB testing: QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year prior to start; if positive PPD, chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
- Annual influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved exemption
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days prior to start including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC checks
- Education and employment verifications
- Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (excluding marijuana/THC)
- Social Security trace, OIG search, SAM, National Sex Offender checks as applicable
- Submission packet including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
- Assignment confirmation required within 24 hours of offer acceptance
Skills & Competency Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist within scope of practice, renewed annually
- Competency exams (including EKG and telemetry) with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives; renewed annually
- Specialty job description signed and dated
- Two professional references required (one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor)
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required for submission
- Must not submit candidate to more than one job at a time
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
