Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Levelland, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Float: Nurse may float between units as needed

- Special Requirements:
- Mandatory labor and delivery experience
- Nurse will be required to work independently on the unit
- Experience with mom/baby and/or transition nursing preferred but not mandatory
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in Labor and Delivery (higher value from data)
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- NURSYS verification required as applicable
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification or equivalent
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - If required by clinical track
- Other certifications as required by clinical track or facility
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for nursing degree
- State-specific searches as applicable
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
- Immunizations and screenings:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Competencies and Skills
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams including Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
References and Employment History
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with month/year format
Additional Notes
- Mandatory float policy acknowledgment; nurse may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules (regulatory, specialty, and regional) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Epic access training modules required for some regions/facilities
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Modules and certifications may be updated based on clinical track and facility requirements
This position offers an opportunity to work independently in a Level IV Trauma Center with a focus on Labor and Delivery nursing in a short-term acute care setting. The role requires strong clinical skills, mandatory L&D experience, and the ability to float between units as needed.
