Location: Garrison, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a MedSurg/ED Swing role covering a 22-bed unit with a mix of acute, swing, and emergency department patients. The nurse will work 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a) with every other weekend and holiday required. Flex time call is expected. The position includes floating to the ED and may involve charge nurse responsibilities.

Unit Details

• Unit Type: MedSurg/ED Swing
• Bed Count: 22
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Acute: 1:4
  • Swing Bed: 1:6
  • ED: 1:4
• Common Diagnoses: Various
• Telemetry: Yes, RNs read strips in ED
• Respiratory Equipment: NEBS, O2 nasal and mask; ventilator used only in ED and transport; CPAP may be brought in for swing bed patients
• Charge Nurse Role: May work charge; charge experience required

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TNCC
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of combined MedSurg and ED nursing experience
• Must have prior charge nurse experience (may work charge)
• Ability to titrate drips (normal drips)

Scheduling & Orientation

• Shifts: 12-hour day and night shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: Flex time
• Floating: Required to float to ED and may work charge
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided

Additional Notes

• Must not have worked permanently or PRN at this facility within the last 12 months
• No clinical involvement outside of nursing duties
• Dress Code: Any scrub color allowed
