Job Opportunity: CST/ORT - OR (Travel Assignment)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with OR experience for a travel assignment. The role requires working in a high-acuity cardiovascular preoperative unit with a 1:1 patient ratio. The unit supports a busy robotic surgery program and is part of a Level II trauma center with advanced cardiac and pediatric services.

Required Qualifications

Certification:
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification is mandatory
- BLS certification required
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CST/ORT specialty
- Must have CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
- Must have completed at least 2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience required)
Skills:
- Critical care experience is a must; PreOp experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental teams
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Proficient in BCMA and documentation
Procedural Skills:
- Large-bore IV starts
- Chin to toe hair removal
- Medication administration
- Skin assessment
- Assisting with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transporting patients to OR and assisting with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep

Work Schedule & Environment

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
On Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
Unit Staffing: Includes RNs, CNC support, secretary, and manager shared with CVOR
Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
Documentation System: Cerner
Dress Code: Uniform provided
