Job Opportunity: CST/ORT - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with mandatory CVOR experience and at least 2 prior travel assignments. This role is based in a high-acuity cardiovascular preoperative unit with a 1:1 patient ratio and a 4-bed capacity. The unit supports a busy robotic surgery program and is part of a Level II trauma center with advanced cardiac and pediatric services.
Required Qualifications
- Certification:
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) Certification (mandatory)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CST/ORT specialty
- Must have CVOR experience
- Must have completed at least 2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience required)
- Skills:
- Critical care experience required
- PreOp experience is a plus
- Excellent documentation skills including BCMA
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Cardiovascular PreOp (CV PreOp) in The Heart Tower
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Staffing: RNs, CNC support, secretary, manager shared with CVOR
- Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating: Within scope of practice and experience
Procedures & Responsibilities
- Large-bore IV starts
- Chin to toe hair removal
- Medication administration
- Skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to OR
- Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep

- The unit is recognized for excellence and uses advanced technology
- Critical care experience is essential due to the high-acuity patient population
