Job Summary: Outpatient Clinic Cardiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 20 weeks (approximately 20 weeks)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (No weekends, holidays, or on-call)
Job Description
- Position in an outpatient cardiology clinic supporting interventional cardiology pod.
- Collaborate with 2 other RNs, 3 physicians, and 2 ARNPs.
- Responsibilities include urgent message response, telephone triage, managing patient portal (MyChart) messages, and various in-clinic duties.
- Patient population: Adult cardiac patients including LVAD patients and those undergoing interventional procedures (CAD, stents, angiograms).
- Inpatient cardiac experience is required.
- Clinic uses EPIC for charting (experience required).
- Attire: Any color scrubs or business casual.
- Candidate must have reliable personal transportation (public transportation not sufficient) due to floating between clinics.
Required Qualifications
- License: Washington RN license required at time of contract signature (pending licenses not accepted).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience in an adult outpatient cardiology clinic. Inpatient cardiac experience is also required. Teaching hospital experience preferred.
- Certifications: BLS required.
- First-Timers: Accepted only if they have inpatient cardiac experience.
- Skills:
- Cardiology clinic specialties including:
- Interpretation of lab results
- Medication reconciliation
- Vital signs collection
- Patient history and allergy documentation
- Procedure support: dressing changes, aseptic/sterile tray setup
- Specimen collection: capillary, throat, urine (UA/clean catch), venipuncture/phlebotomy
- Office duties: pharmacy calls, patient refill requests, telephone triage, follow-up phone calls
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required. First-time travelers accepted under conditions above.
- On-call: Not required.
- Floating: May be required to float within scope as needed.
Patient Diagnoses & Special Equipment
- Adult cardiac patients including LVAD and advanced cardiac support clinic patients.
- Equipment familiarity: LVAD, Cardio MEMS, cardiac monitors (Zio, Preventis, Bardy), EKG.
Additional Notes
- Locals within 50 miles accepted and considered local for pay rate purposes.
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off traveler up to 1 shift per pay period (every 2 weeks).
- No weekend or holiday shifts.
- No block scheduling accommodation.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements (Summary)
- Background check within 45 days of start, including SSN trace, education verification, and state-specific searches.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp training modules prior to start.
- Epic experience and completion of Epic training modules required.
