Unit Information

• Unit: Emergency Department
• Number of Beds: 11
• Number of Staff: 28
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
• Equipment: Phillips monitors, HillRom beds, Omnicell, GE EKG machine, Lifepak 20e defibrillator, Lucas device, Verathon bladder scanner
• EMR System: Meditech Expanse

Schedule

• Day Shift: Charge nurse 7a-7p, 1 AM RN 7a-7p, 1 RN 10a-10p, 1 PCT
• Night Shift: Charge nurse 7p-7a, 1 PM RN 7p-7a, 1 RN 1p-1a, 1 PCT
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On Call: No call

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a charge nurse role or demonstrated ability to multi-task and think independently

• Chest tubes
• Codes (emergency response)
• Intubation
• Laceration repair
• Antivenom infusion
• Orthopedic splinting (performed by RNs)
