Job Opportunity: NICU Respiratory Therapist
Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The NICU Respiratory Therapist performs and documents patient evaluations and assessments in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include providing diagnostic and therapeutic treatments, patient and family education, identifying significant changes in patient condition, and ensuring proper documentation. The role involves critical care for infants, equipment maintenance, and transport of infants to/from referral health systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatments and physician assistance.
- Educate patients and families according to their needs.
- Identify and respond to significant changes in patient condition.
- Complete all required documentation including EMR, medication charting, and safety reports.
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on respiratory equipment.
- Transport infants safely to and from referral health systems.
- Deliver high-quality critical care following established patient care guidelines.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the department.
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensed by the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care prior to start date.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- New graduates must obtain RRT registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care within 12 months of start date.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the specialty (NICU Respiratory Therapy).
- Recent travel experience required, with preference for candidates who have completed 3 prior travel assignments.
Additional Information
- Shift: 3x12 hour rotating shifts
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center
- No radius rule; local travelers accepted without rate difference
This position is ideal for experienced NICU Respiratory Therapists with recent travel experience seeking a 13-week contract in North Dakota.
