Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN Circulator)
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Operating Room RN Circulator
- Shift: 5x8 hour shifts or 4x10 hour shifts (may change during interview)
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours
- On-call: Will take call (late team); details discussed during interview
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of OR experience without prior travel experience
- OR minimum 2 years of OR experience with prior travel experience
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Must have a Tennessee RN license or a compact RN license compliant with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines at time of submission
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (strict requirement)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- 2 years or more of total travel experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed)
- Immunizations: Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B as applicable
- TB test: Negative 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year of start (must pass without limitations)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start including statewide, county, federal, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (TN only)
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation if employed with agency for 1 year or more
Additional Notes
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed; candidates should consider if this is a deal breaker
- Candidate must be prepared for on-call responsibilities
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Photo badge with strict guidelines required prior to start
- Facility-specific questionnaires and confidentiality acknowledgment must be completed prior to start
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is required if candidate has less than 3 years OR experience (minimum 2 years with travel)
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs who meet the licensure and experience requirements and are comfortable with travel assignments and on-call duties.
