Travel RN - ICU (CVICU)
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Work Details
- Unit: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
- Shift Options: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekend Schedule: Rotating
- Call Requirements: None
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Floating Required: Yes (all travelers must float per hospital policy)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas (Temporary license accepted)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Required Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines)
- Ventilator management
- Strong critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- Exposure to CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- Experience with Meditech charting/order entry
Procedures Commonly Performed on Unit
- Post-CABG care
- Post-VAD care
- Post-cardiac catheterization with cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
Dress Code & Appearance Guidelines
- Scrubs: Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Nails: Clean and healthy
- Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
- Facial Hair: Clean and neatly trimmed beards, mustaches, and sideburns
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; uncovered body art addressed individually
- Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; all other visible piercings prohibited
Additional Notes
- Strict adherence to attendance and punctuality policies (clock-in by 6:38 AM/PM; after 6:45 considered tardy)
- Must take a full 30-minute lunch break
- Floating to other units is mandatory during assignment
