Description
Job Opportunity: RN - ICU (CVICU)
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit and Work Details
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift Options: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekend Schedule: Rotating
- Call Requirements: None
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Floating: All travelers are required to float per hospital policy
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas (Temporary license accepted)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Skills:
- Hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines)
- Ventilator management
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) exposure
- Meditech charting and order entry
Procedures Commonly Performed on Unit
- Post Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) care
- Post Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) care
- Post cardiac catheterization with support devices such as IABP, Impella, ECMO
Dress Code and Appearance Guidelines
- Scrubs: Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Nails: Clean and healthy
- Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
- Facial Hair: Clean and neatly trimmed beards, mustaches, and sideburns
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; exceptions addressed individually
- Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; other visible piercings prohibited
Additional Unit Policies
- Must badge in and out for each shift
- Full 30-minute lunch break required
- Punctuality is important; clocking in after 6:45 AM/PM is considered tardy
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required for this position
This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity CVICU setting with device training provided. Ideal candidates will have strong critical care skills and the ability to adapt to floating assignments within the hospital.
