Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend required
Start Date: March 9, 2026 (or March 23, 2026)
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
On-Call: Not required
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- Recent experience (within the last year) in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Job Description Highlights
- Position is for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit
- Night shift with 36 hours every other week
- Floating within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug test within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or proof of vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as per protocol, updated annually
- Mask fit testing (N95) within 1 year prior to start
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (one must be from a supervisor/manager)
- Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, badge photo, and IT confidentiality agreement must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific, color blindness)
- Facility requires signing of job description and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- Respirator questionnaire must be completed and signed by a medical professional
- Floating and weekend/holiday coverage are mandatory parts of the role
This position offers an opportunity to work in a telemetry/medical-surgical unit on night shifts with a reputable healthcare system in Maryland. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty and who hold the required Maryland RN license and certifications. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
