Description
Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Physical Therapist for a short-term acute care hospital setting. The role involves working across multiple units including ICU, Step down, Oncology, Medical, Surgical, Neuro/Telemetry, and Orthopedics. Treatments are provided daily (QD treatments).
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist (higher value confirmed)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Work Schedule & Environment
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- Occasional weekend shifts required
- No on-call duties
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Acute hospital setting with diverse patient populations
- Charting system: EPIC
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must hold a valid Missouri Physical Therapist license (Primary source verification required)
Special Skills & Preferences
- Required skills: Telephone communication, supported units
- Preferred experience: Emergency Room (ER), ICU, Medical Surgical units

Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest degree related to profession
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include comprehensive panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required annually (N95 respirators)
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Various facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and latex allergy questionnaire must be completed prior to start
Competency & Skills Verification
- Unit-specific competency exams required annually
- Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
- Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable for Missouri
