Description

Travel/Contract Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Assignment in a Stepdown unit (HVTI-Stepdown)
  • Rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm) with 12-hour shifts (3 shifts per week)
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
  • Minimum 18 months recent Stepdown experience (travel experience counts)
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Progressive Care experience preferred but not required

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state RN license in hand
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication exam must be passed during orientation

Work Requirements

  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • Pass baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) during orientation

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Stepdown nursing experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references from employment within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care practice in a similar area
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
  • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Pass facility orientation exams including medication and ECG interpretation (SafeMedicate and ECG rhythm recognition)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PCU/Progressive Care experience
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred but not required

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Must be able to pass all required health screenings and immunizations without declinations unless approved medical/religious exemptions are submitted and approved
  • Candidates must be prepared for fingerprinting and background checks as per Ohio state and facility requirements
  • Candidates must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts and at least every other holiday

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs with strong acute care skills and the ability to work flexible shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
