Registered Nurse - Medical Telemetry
Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC) for day and night shifts. The role involves providing care to patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, including respiratory issues, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, and more.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Medical Telemetry and IMC
- Number of Beds: 43
- Patient Ratios:
- Day Shift Med/Surg: 1:4-5
- Night Shift Med/Surg: 1:5-6
- IMC (Day and Night): 1:3
- Equipment Used: Ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-Rebreather masks, Epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, Trach care/maintenance
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Maine
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Medical Telemetry or IMC
- Skills:
- Experience with ventilators and respiratory equipment
- Proficient in tracheostomy care
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Education: Completion of mandatory onboarding education modules

- Shift: Day and Night shifts available
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements:
- IMC RNs may float to other IMC units or med/surg units as needed
- Med/Surg RNs may float to similar med/surg units based on skill and unit needs
- Patient Population: Respiratory, medical telemetry, some surgical patients, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and other acute on chronic conditions
- Personality Fit: Teamwork, flexibility, good communication, patient-centered care
- Dress Code: Professional attire required; no unprofessional clothing or non-hospital logos
