Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General (Pediatrics)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Ultrasound / Pediatrics
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), Friday through Sunday
  • No on-call required
  • Work location: All in-house, no travel between buildings
  • Daily caseload varies
  • Potential flexibility to work additional days as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Pediatric Ultrasound Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Neonate and Pediatric patients
  • Experience with extremity venous Doppler
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARDMS or ARRT certification

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Radius rule: 60 miles
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval (not guaranteed)
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
  • Background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS, and others within 1 year
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts acceptable as placeholder)
  • Clinical references (2 required)
  • Employment history verification (last 3 clinical employers)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Physical exam updated annually
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug-April) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Competency exam required

Additional Notes

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or a declination form completed
  • No floating between buildings or departments
  • No radiation badge required for this role
  • Facility uses Epic for charting
  • Travelers must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required documentation before starting
