Job Opportunity: RN - Coronary Care ICU (T4)

Job Description

• Work in a 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit with high acuity patients.
• Patient ratio typically 1:1 to 1:2, with a high number of 1:1 assignments.
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units; telemetry patient ratio is 4:1. Floating to Westgate campus may be required.
• Shifts are 12 hours, 7am-7pm, with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and holiday shifts based on unit coverage.
• Charge nurse duties included (no patient assignment).
• Nurse aides (2 PCTs) support days and nights during high census.
• Use Cerner EMR system.
• Work alongside intensivists (in-house during day, on-call at night), respiratory therapists 24/7, and pharmacy support 24/7.
• High number of bedside procedures including bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, epidurals, IABP, CRRT, ECMO, and care for transplant patients (lung, thoracic).
• Common patient diagnoses: cardiac surgery recovery, ECMO, IABP, CABG, TAVR, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and thoracic surgery.
• Orientation includes 2 days on the floor plus a pass/fail SIMs Lab focusing on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (except ED and NyICU have modified requirements).
• Must maintain sterile technique during procedures.

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Arizona.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of core ICU experience in specialty (Coronary Care ICU/CTICU/CVICU). Level 1 Trauma experience required. CVICU experience preferred.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferred.
• EMR: Cerner experience required.
• Exams: Must pass Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts). Failure results in 6-month disqualification within the region. Also must pass Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab.
• Other: Must have strong IV skills; no IV team support.
• Appearance: No facial piercings, natural hair color only, men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU roles; for this ICU role, prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Additional: Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team.

Additional Notes

• Weekly orientations on Mondays (except holidays).
• Cannot hold multiple contracts simultaneously within this system.
• Must have been off permanent staff at this system for 12 months to be eligible for travel assignment.
• Facility is a teaching hospital; nurses may have nursing students assigned.
• Parking provided with shuttle service; night shift parking in garage.
• Scrub color: Navy.
• High acuity environment with transplant and advanced cardiac care specialties.
